O'Death

I saw this band at the World Inferno Friendship Society show last night. Best live show I've seen since Adam McDaniel's live uncut and undressed transit tour of McCall, Idaho.

Curling League Team Name Cameo

Worth it for the double TD at 3:00.

It got me fired up enough to watch Pat and Brett's video six or seven more times each.

Inquiring minds would ask how we got to this part of the huge lake.

Best viewed with sound for commentary.

Me Too!

If only Cheryl could see us now! Talk about a bunch of mountain men.  Hopefully we will run into each other out there. Here are some pictures from the Big Snowy Mountains in Central Montana. The first photo is from the top of the range's tallest; Greathouse peak. I'll be spending three more weeks in these hills, then a couple weeks in the Bob Marshall Wilderness and then a couple weeks in the Little Belt mountains. If anyone wants to come, call me maybe

Cadillac Camping

In years gone by some members of the crew have made a trip to a little place called Buckhorn Lake about 20 miles due east of McCall. Remember these gems?
Well we left a few places up in that area unexplored, so roby and i left our purses at the salmon river brewery and knocked out a 1 peak, 2 dude, 3 drainage, 4 night, 5 lake, painful and difficult fuck-fest. It was fun.
Fishin was good.
Some lakes were snowy.
Views off the top of Nick Peak were sweet.
Photo ops were abundant.
Camping spots were solitary.
And we got tired climbing over hundreds of downed trees across the trail. We are already planning another trip for next year which hopefully will include lots of other ogres!

Ogre Folklore

A nice bedtime story of a Pakistani Ogre.

"The Ogre (7,285 m) is the most difficult high mountain to climb in the world; there is no easy way to the summit. On July 13, 1977, Doug Scott and Chris Bonington reached the summit for the first time after very difficult rock climbing that extended the boundaries of what had been achieved before at that altitude where there is only half the oxygen in the atmosphere than at sea level. Doug’s big wall climbing experience in Norway, Yosemite and Baffin Island were crucial to this achievement.

The descent in the dark immediately became an epic when abseiling off the summit block Doug slipped on water ice and smashed into rocks breaking both legs just above the ankles. A storm blew in lasting five days during which time Chris smashed his ribs and contracted pneumonia. It took eight hard days to reach Base Camp – that was only made possible by the selfless support of Clive Rowland and Mo Anthoine.

After a five day wait for a stretcher party of eight Balti hillmen, Doug was carried into the village of Askoli three days later. Half an hour after arrival a helicopter flew in and out to Skardu where, to add insult to injury, it crash landed well short of the helipad but without further injury to the occupants.

It was 24 years before there was a second ascent of The Ogre, now recognised to be one of the hardest mountains in the world."

Doug Scott also spent some time in Boise. In fact, there is a route he put up bearing his name at the Black Cliffs.

Keep it core out there. True to form.

We saw MSP and those dorks wear their goggles under their helmets

ALASKA!
This was the first day up there after an overnight flight. Sweet tour to start it off. Rad 45 degree slopes on the subpeak barely popping out of the top. 2 hours of walking got us barely to the top of the roll section without even getting us onto the proper ridge.
A jump! No Robot Food, and we got hellza Nimbus C-roll.
5000' of relief on mountains coming right out of downtown Girdwood.
2500' to the highest roll before the subpeak at the top of the photo. Another sweet tour on a sketchier avy condition day.
Fucking stoked on the last day with my buddy shirtless picking himself up out of the snow after eating shit on the skin track.
Down the highway to Seward
Side of the road 5000' foothills outside of Anchorage.

Cana-Duh

Danny and i went to canada. Highlights included a double big mac-eating competition (Tied 3 to 3). Eating putine, if you don't know what that is you can't afford it. And, watching Australian guys kick each other in the balls. While i don't have photographic evidence to support these highlights i got some shots that look all pretty.
