Mike Giant = Bad Ass

Just thought I would bring this guy up. I don't know if any of you guys know of Mike Giant but I have taken a newfound interest in his work for some reason... Possibly, at heart, I yearn to do cholo drawings and tattoos in San Fran, who knows. But anyway, this guy makes some really sick pieces of art with sharpie's... He even has his own signature line of them!

He now is one of the owners of the clothing company called REBEL8, which features some pretty gnarly t- shirts haha.

Purely a post out of appreciation for talent like this and an aspiration for our own creative juices to flow.

Check the guy out, or Rebel 8 at http://shop.rebel8.com/

LIGO

I spent most of yesterday at the LIGO facility in Livingston, Louisiana.

Why did I go? Well, general relativity predicts that many dense and energetic gravitational interactions, like collapsing neutron stars, colliding galaxies, should give off waves, which are the gravitational analog of light in the electromagnetic spectrum. Nobody has ever directly detected gravitational waves, but they are likely to see something in the next few years. There are only two observatories in the US and 3 or 4 in the whole world. A laser shines from origin through a lens that splits it at exactly a 90 degree (pi/2...radians shout out!). The two equivalent beams run down 4km long vacuum tubes. The idea is that a mirror will reflect the beams back and the waves should be perfectly in sync. However, gravitational waves will distort the fabric of space time while traveling past earth making one tube longer, the other shorter, and the waves slightly out of sync.

Trip highlights:

I met someone who is probably going to win a Nobel prize.

There was a bubble screen ala Discovery Center in the kids educational center where we had two people blowing bubbles at the same time in opposing directions. It looked like that spooky Donnie Darko time travel shit.

Beignets (a tasty treat) on the way back.

I've been listening to Cut Chemist-The Audience's Listening lately. That shit is rad.

Now That Pat is Gone Again

Notice: If you are Pat, stop reading now.

I don't know if these guys were super cool and I missed it or what, but Soulwax made a CD Nite Versions that is one (10) solid track of awesome. I was trying to find a cool video to put on here. I saw this one and it reminded me of something I started, but didn't finish. Enjoy NY Excuse and Sweet Love For Planet Earth (2/3).

I made this video 1.5 times after imovie crapped out on me halfway through once. Now I'm tired. I'll finish it someday.

Know What You're Wearing

So I am taking a marketing course on environmental sustainability, and it is pretty radical.
We were assigned a quarter long project having to do with any environmental issue we wanted. My group chose to do a website on the impacts of cotton harvesting and production around the world.
You guys should check it out, the design was done mostly by yours truly, travnasty.
Website was done in flash and i have never used that shit before, its gnar.

Where were you Sunday night?

Just tootin my horn...

Yesssss, I beat pat

This morning I awoke  late in my beige bedroom of Baton Rouge. I was late with intent, so is that really late at all? After a breakfast of eggs, cheese, & bayou sauce burrito style, I was greeted with quite the unexpected welcoming.

I pulled down the streamers I put up. Promptly popped all the balloons (I know it was two days early, but I couldn't resist), and tore up my "One Year Anniversary of Crapneto Craplessness!!!!1@!!!one!" banner that hung like a smile of pursed lips above where the american TV center should reside in this beautiful beige Baton Rouge apartment.

The party invitations all had to be cancelled, the RSVP's undone like the blouse of a young Ohioan sitting in excitement and astonishment as her piercing nipples are felt up by her equally excited boyfriend of two days for the first time.

June 2, 2009. New Crapneto Post:

"I don't really know what HTML is, but I think that I want less of it in my life.

This video? It's about menu diversification! It was made for a 72hour filmmaker's showdown by a bunch of friends who smell really good. Except Raoul, who sadly, doesn't smell as refreshing as the rest of us. But he has nice teeth.

Anyway, no goldfish were harmed in the making of this film. Did they all die? Yes, yes they did. But not until later. Despite our best efforts. We think it was Matt's fault." -Robjn (or Mikee, I Don't know)
