Too bad they broke up
Unfortunately all good folk punk bands can't keep it together. Amidst the racket of rusty instruments and hoarse throats Hunger Moon played the two best punk shows Missoula will see this year. Even though there weren't enough people to get real rowdy, people caught on to the screamed lyrics and danced while Chris kept it all in sync by clanking along on his piss filled jug. I guess the DIY scene has an inherent obsolescence due to the cheap cds, basement onlookers' unwillingness to fill donation jars with their beer money and the band's lack of promotion for shows only heard of by the kid who spends too much time on myspace or owns the basement where they will play. Although this music is best heard at shows that you aren't really supposed to know about or plan to see, it sounds pretty fucking good anyways.
